In this section we answer some Frequently Asked Questions regarding our programs, staff etc.

Equine-assisted learning based program specifically designed to bring out the best in its participants through horse and teamwork interaction. We will partner with animals and add in mindfulness and meditations. The horse connection helps people to feel better about themselves, increase their self confidence and provide them with the inspiration to reach their full potential.

Amethyst Equine Connections offers participants a structured curriculum incorporating a variety of learning and skill development opportunities based on specific objectives, immediate outcomes and feedback. This is accomplished through groundwork with the horse and allowing the horses to be the teachers.

We are able to have a window of opportunity as facilitators to facilitate the development of skills and change in behaviours. Participants learn understanding, respect, empathy, communication, negotiation and focus (just to name a few) as they move through a 6-12 week curriculum. It is through the horses responding to the human stimulus that we are able to facilitate change.

Equine-Assisted Learning and Equine Facilitated Wellness programs are a powerful journey of learning and understanding. Horses are partnered with clients as the horses are teaching tools to the clients. This is because the horses immediately respond to what the participant/client is doing. Facilitators are trained to look for those “teachable moments” that the horses identify through their reactions. It is at this point that we facilitate the learning opportunity with some pointed guidance to the clients/participants. OUR TEACHERS ARE 800-1500 LBS. There is no pushing around these teachers! Our participants will have to step up. If a horse doesn’t have a leader, they will become the leader.  They are a prey animal.  This means their senses are highly astute. They can hear our heartbeat and they will react to the slightest changes within a team - allowing facilitators to find and act on those “teachable moments”. They are just like us….. sort of. Horses have a lot to teach us, but they are also a lot like us. For example; herds to horses are teams to people. Horses require a leader that they trust and respect, just like we would love to have in the workplace. These parallels give us the ability to parallel everything that happens to real life so that what you learn really sticks! Quite simply, the horse does the teaching; facilitators are there to offer explanations and provide guidance as they work through to the solution. Working with the horses creates memories that we can apply to our lives and retain FAR longer than sitting in ‘just another classroom.
